Burel, a fabric made exclusively from sheep's wool, dates back to medieval times and has its roots in the majestic Serra da Estrela mountains in Portugal. Associated with pastoral traditions, this authentic fabric undergoes a series of distinctive artisanal processes. From shearing to washing, spinning, warping, and weaving on the loom, culminating in the unique stage of “pisão” — a machine that transforms the fabric into burel, giving it greater strength, resistance, and impermeability.
